Atlus USA is giving 3DS owners the chance to play Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
Atlus has taken the oldest game in their franchise and made it feel fresh. If the rest of the game works as well as the demo, the idea behind this is great. The only reason this isn't perfect is that half of the game is still technically the same as before, just with more polish.
The controls are easy to use, the first-person turn-based exploration is a great idea, and quick navigation both in town and the labyrinth make the game very accessible. The only major issue is the inconsistency of skills use and its affects.
The game utilizes the 3DS screen technology to the fullest, even allowing enemies to have multiple lines in combat, creating a true feeling of depth. The labyrinth is great rendering, and even the anime cutscenes and characters are well-done. It loses marks for not being in full 3D on the main screen, but that's a minor complaint.
The story so far is engrossing. If the point was to draw potential players in, mission accomplished.
