Scribblenauts takes on the DC Comics universe, how’d that work out?

  • Concept: 5

It's a game involving DC Comics characters without many limits on how you play. Summon a trout one second, bring out the entire Green Lantern Corps the next (and I mean ALL OF THEM). The idea for the game is great, and with it being family-friendly, it's almost universally accessible.

  • Gameplay: 3

The dictionary in the game is good, but limited, leading to some odd options. The Mxyzptlk challenges border on the insane due to that. However, the main game is good, the regular puzzles are fun, and overall, you get to do cool stuff with DC Comics characters. The only major downside is the need to go through multiple phases of simple mission completion to progress in the plot.

  • Graphics: 2.5

No use of the 3D system outside of a token utilization it the cut-scenes and the main menu. The illustrations themselves are good, and the environments are decent, but the graphics feel like they could have been on the DS.

  • Plot: 4

This was fun. You get to go through familiar locations around Gotham, Superman's world, and Justice League locales, take on some well-known villains, have a few moments of dramatic irony, and emerge the hero. It can be convoluted at times, but it's fun enough.

Overall: 3
