Warlocks Brawling on Kickstarter
Polish developer One More Level has an intriguing project on Kickstarter – Warlocks. The game tasks you with choosing one of four playable warlocks and battling through waves of enemies. After you beat each world’s boss you unlock a new playable character, up to a total of 10 spell-slingers who each have at least four unique abilities. Even better, the game features local and online co-op for up to four players and a versus mode with deathmatch and 2v2 battles.
The game reminds me of a mash-up of Smash Brothers, Rogue Legacy and Gears of War’s Horde Mode. You can check out a playable demo available here, I had a hard time putting it down. I played as both the pyromancer and the shamaness and thought both classes were a blast. Enemies dropped gear in the demo, but besides picking it up, there wasn’t much of an indication of how it worked or any of the benefits provided. The action is fast and furious, so I wonder if you tweak your gear between worlds to maximize your loadout. I barely had time to pick up the loot while fighting the swarms of enemies. The game also features some intriguing concepts for the worlds, including: 1940s Wall Street, ruined cathedrals, foggy swamplands and an industrial wasteland.
The game is slated to open early access on Steam in November of this year, and is slated for release in April 2015 on PC, Mac, Linux and Wii U.One More Level is looking to raise $25,000 for the project by Oct. 2, with a stretch goal of $40,000 to begin development on PS4 and Vita versions. Head over to Kickstarter and help this project reach its funding goals, so we can blast through all the worlds together.
