The Chinese Room “Something Special Brewing” With PS4 Exclusive Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture

Gone-to-the-Rapture

Back in August, we saw a teaser trailer for The Chinese Room‘s Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. We know that Santa Monica Studio are also contributing to the title. Recent rumblings have indicated the title will likely not release in 2014, but there’s also good news afoot,

Yesterday, The Chinese Room announced via Twitter that,

Full team in town this week, walking through PS4 build, dissecting it all and putting it back together. @BrightonIndies tonight!

The Tweet asserts that Santa Monica Studio devs may be in town walking through the current PS4 build along with the UK based team at The Chinese Room. Another update from the studio suggested core features are pretty much locked in at this point,

Interesting yesterday to get the team who hadn’t played the PS4 build on it. Love how using the proper controller subtly changes everything.

Got the whole morning put aside with @andrewcrawshaw to talk design. As core features lock, time to do detail – the really important stuff.

Those two messages seem to indicate that the team played the current build with PS4’s DualShock 4 controller, and that the specific features of that controller (trackpad) subtly changed the interaction with the game. And finally, Lead designer at The Chinese Room makes this exciting statement about the past few days at the studio,

On my way home after a few days of very satisfying meetings and bonding with @ChineseRoom – something special is brewing…

We have previous little information about the title at this point, but the atmosphere, hauntingly non-human footprints, and strange solar eclipse shown in the teaser have us seriously excited to learn more. It’s also good to hear that progress is coming along nicely at the studio.
