Microsoft Appoints Satya Nedella As New CEO

Back in August, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced his impending retirement. The deal was that Ballmer would step down as soon as the board appointed a new CEO. That day has come. After 20 years at Microsoft, Satya Nedella has been named CEO. He began work at the company in 1992 and has since become an integral member of the executive staff. Nedella’s push for cloud computing has been at the forefront as of recent. Microsoft now boasts one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world, which supports Bing, Xbox, Office and other services.

Further announcements placed Bill Gates in a technology advisor position within the board. It will be interesting to see what direction the company is headed in the future.
