GoPro App Headed To Xbox 360 And Xbox One

GoPro cameras have become tremendously popular for amateur and professional filmmakers alike. The immersive experience the easily mounted camera perpetuates has become something of a phenomenon among viewers as well. It was announced today that GoPro would be partnering with Microsoft to launch a dedicated app on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The app will allow Xbox Live users to gain access to on-demand GoPro video content and even enable them to purchase physical merchandise directly through the app; a first for Xbox. All North American orders made through the GoPro app will be fulfilled by the Microsoft Store. General manager for the apps and development ecosystem at Xbox, Michael Mott had this to say,

“We’re thrilled to bring unique and exciting videos from the GoPro community to both Xbox One and Xbox 360,”

“The amazing video footage that GoPro cameras enable is some of the most compelling and interesting available anywhere. Xbox Live members are in for a treat when they access GoPro’s incredible programming and are able to enjoy innovative experiences like purchasing GoPro products right from their Xbox.”

Microsoft has made it clear that it intends the Xbox platform to be a one stop shop for all of your entertainment needs. The GoPro app joins Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Instant ¬†and a host of other popular apps available on Xbox platforms. A specific launch date for the app wasn’t provided at this time. We’ll keep you up-to-date with more information in the future.
