Microsoft Sold 7.4 Million Xbox Consoles In FY14 Q2, How Many Were Xbox Ones?
Microsoft has announced their FY14 Q2 earnings today. The company reported record revenue of $24.52B in Q2. It was announced that as of December 31st, 2013 Microsoft had sold 7.9M Xbox consoles. The split between Xbox One and Xbox 360 was closer than expected. From November 22nd (Xbox One launch) to 12/31/13, 3.9M Xbox One consoles were sold. The remaining sales came from Xbox 360 console, which still managed to move 3.5M units.
The verbiage from the earnings call states,
“The company sold 7.4 million Xbox console units into the retail channel, including 3.9 million Xbox One consoles and 3.5 million Xbox 360 consoles.”
That seems to indicate they’d shipped that many units to retail outlets, not necessarily into the hands of consumers. All things considered, moving 3.9M consoles in just over one month is pretty amazing.
