Battlefield 4 Issues Delay AMD’s Mantle Patch For The Title

Battlefield 4 has been in the toilet PR-wise for some time. Between the dissatisfaction of gamers and even EA‘s shareholders, the latest installment in the popular FPS series needs to get under control very soon. News has just come by way of AMD that the much anticipated Mantle update to Battlefield 4, scheduled for a December release, has been delayed, here’s the official statement from AMD:

After much consideration, the decision was made to delay the Mantle patch for Battlefield 4. AMD continues to support DICE on the public introduction of Mantle, and we are tremendously excited about the coming release for Battlefield 4! We are now targeting a January release and will have more information to share in the New Year.

The setback was likely spurred on by the overall instability of the title since it’s October release. At this point, patching in Mantle support is probably a bit out of question. There’s no indication as to who ultimately made the decision to postpone the patch, but the fact remains that AMD’s Mantle update is just another casualty in the wake of the disastrous launch.
