PS4 Sold Out In South Africa In Less Than 24 Hours

PS4 South Africa Launch

Ster Kinekor Entertainment, the distributor responsible for providing PS4 hardware to the South African market, has just announced that PS4 has sold out in the region within 24 hours of going on sale.

The entertainment company stated that the PS4 is, “the fastest selling console in Ster Kinekor Entertainment history,” Note that this quotation is in comparison to PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita. The statement isn’t made in comparison to any competing hardware.

CEO of Ster Kinekor, Mario Dos Santos gave this statement:

“It has been an interesting road full of surprises this last year in the lead up to the PS4 announcement and we are ecstatic that we’ve broken a SKE record with these sales thanks to our loyal customers and stakeholder support. The demand continues to overwhelm supply, but we’re working extremely hard to get PS4 consoles into the hands of customers as quickly as possible.”

At this time it’s unclear as to how many units were allocated to the market for sale during the initial launch of PS4. We’re reaching out for a solid number.
