Microsoft Has Removed Their Offline Day One Update Directions
We all remember a time when Microsoft was pushing an “always on, always connected” Xbox One experience. The company has since changed many of the policies that gamers were having issues with. The motivation for removing the directions for installing the mandatory day one Xbox One update offline are still unclear. The page was in-place to offer an alternative to connecting your Xbox One to the internet to apply the day one update. All user downloadable files have also been removed. Microsoft provided Eurogamer with this statement,
“The site was not an alternative way to take the Day One update and customers still need to connect to Xbox Live for the update,” a spokesperson said. “Because of the complexity of this customer support process we’ve actually removed the page and we will work with customers directly to make sure they have a smooth experience.”
There may be a change in directions incoming, or the company may have decided to force gamers to bring their Xbox One console online to apply the day one update. Another reason for the decision could have had to do with test audiences being walked through the manual update process. It process could have been deemed to problematic from a support perspective.
