Watch Major Nelson Boot An Xbox One On Standby Using Kinect

Xbox-One-Kinect-Not-Required

We’re in the eleventh hour, next-gen arrives at 12:01 am and then again next Friday when the Xbox One releases. As we near the finish line it’s crazy what people are wondering about. Boot times have come up as a topic of interest. After all, shorter boot times mean we’ll be getting to our next-gen library faster. Major Nelson recorded a short Vine depicting a “warm” startup of an Xbox One console using Kinect voice recognition as a startup means.

By all accounts the device booted up within 13 seconds from standby. Earlier reports suggested that the PlayStation 4 booted up in 20 seconds from a “cold” state. We know that standby functionality will be patched into the PS4 at a later time as well. It will be interesting to see how the two compare when both are tested in a standby state.
