Rumor – Call Of Duty Ghosts Running 720P On Xbox One 1080p On PS4
A series of claims by industry insiders on the NeoGAF forum have led to rampant speculation and tomfoolery. The user that accurately spoiled the fact that DRIVECLUB was about to be delayed has now claimed that Call of Duty Ghosts is running at a native 720p on the Xbox One, explicitly lower than the full 1080p console output. While on the other hand it’s running at a full 1080p on the PlayStation 4.
Albert Penello, the Xbox One lead planner chimed in on the subject saying that it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference between 720p up-scaled to 1080p. Which doesn’t answer any questions outright. Penello also said that he doesn’t know what native resolution Call of Duty Ghosts is running at, and that the same can be said about a number of third-party titles on the Xbox One.
If true, a difference of this caliber would be iron-clad truth that there is, in fact, a measurable difference in performance between Xbox One and PlayStation 4. We’ll keep our ear to the ground for confirmation or denial on this matter. But the fact that Penello didn’t deny the claim outright is somewhat damning.
