EA Sports Shows Off New Madden 25 Xbox One/PS4 Gameplay

As we near the precipice of next-gen, more publishers are attempting to show us why it’s worth upgrading to the next-gen version of their title. Yesterday’s NBA 2K14 next-gen video made me a believer. Today’s gameplay video from EA Sports Madden 25 did just the opposite.

Maybe it’s because I don’t have the same level of interest as some, but it’s near impossible for me to distinguish the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions from their current gen counterparts. The team at EA Tiburon seemed really enthusiastic about the new AI component that’s built into the offensive and defensive linemen, and the close-up footage they showed of the behemoths battling it out was definitely impressive. But, how often are you going to be focused on that while you’re actually playing? Admittedly, character animations look quite a bit better, but these upgrades need to translate into better gameplay as well.

Maybe a gamer with more of an eye for this type of thing would appreciate the next-gen versions of Madden 25 more. On the other hand, as I mentioned before, I can be swayed. The NBA 2K14 video made me go all kinds of wide-eyed. Obviously the jury is still out, I’ve had zero hands-on time with the title, so I can’t make any kind of final determination. What I do know is that my level of excitement for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Madden 25 is lukewarm at best.
