Check out the guys over at PlayStation Access playing an extended demo of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It’s a nearly 19 minute gameplay demo exploring the Havana and Nassau regions of Assassin’s Creed Iv’s 18th century Caribbean setting.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag PlayStation 4 Gameplay

At this point I feel like I’ve seen the bulk of the gameplay prior to playing it myself, but it looks considerably more fluid and action packed than Assassin’s Creed III. The core gameplay is relatively unchanged. You’ll still be parkouring around environments, synchronizing viewpoints, assassinating gold highlighted targets, and recruiting minions for the assassin’s order.

What appears to be different is the scope of the map, the upgraded naval battles – complete with a new boarding mechanic, and the focus on bringing the many locations of the world to life. Assassin’s Creed has always managed to bring cities to life incredibly well, but the amount of detail built into the natural surroundings of the Caribbean is what I’m really impressed with.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is scheduled to release October 29th on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U and November 12th on the PlayStation 4 and finally November 19th on PC and Xbox One.
