The Half-Life 3 Trademark Was A Hoax

Remember Monday? A trademark for Half-Life 3 was spotted and set the internet ablaze. I remember wondering why Valve didn’t announce the game when the veil was lifted on the SteamOS, Steam Machines, and Steam Controller. The filing looked legit. There were documents! Well, the folks over at Valvetime were able to debunk the filing. That’s not all, it seems the less publicized Portal 3 trademark that was filed the next day was also a hoax.

However, Valve’s Jira database did confirm that there’s development teams working on Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, and Source 2.

It’s too bad the trademark turned out to be bullocks, but that’s what happens when you believe. You get swindled, tricked and bamboozled. It looks like our crowbars are heading back to the upright lock position, for now.
