Deep Down Has Been Confirmed As A Free-to-play Title On PlayStation 4

During TGS 2013, Deep Down‘s producer¬†¬†Yoshinori Ono revealed that the title would be free-to-play on the PlayStation 4. We’ve been keeping an eye on Deep Down for some time now as it’s shown great visual promise since it’s tech demo at the PlayStation 4 reveal.

It was also confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida that the title would be in open beta early 2014. The beta is planned to begin just before the launch of PS4 in Japan, which is February 22nd.

Back in August we’d gotten wind the title would be playable at TGS, and that it was being described as a “Reading memory RPG” which has since been revealed as an Assassin’s Creed-like plot. We’ve seen bits and pieces of Deep Down’s story, with the most substantial piece of gameplay coming via the Tokyo Game Show. We still don’t have an official release date, but it’s our assumption we’ll see a full release in late Winter or early Spring 2014 based on the beta date.
