Valve Teases Three Announcements Regarding The Expansion Of Steam
It looks like the console space is going to be more crowded than ever. Gabe Newell teased the industry at LinuxCon that Valve would have major announcements on the horizon. We now know that Monday, September 23rd, 2013 will be the first of three announcements regarding the future of Valve. Steam, Valve’s digital distribution network for the PC made it’s first move towards your living room last year, the company recounted, “Last year, we shipped a software feature called Big Picture, a user-interface tailored for televisions and gamepads,” continued, “This year we’ve been working on even more ways to connect the dots for customers who want Steam in the living-room. Soon, we’ll be adding you to our design process, so that you can help us shape the future of Steam.” There’s a newly published teaser site complete with a countdown to Monday’s announcement.
We’ll be keeping our ear to the ground for anything Steambox related and will update once Gaben and Valve make any announcements. Is there room in your living room for another box? What would the specs and price point have to look like to get you to move on another home console of sorts?
