Roughly 10% Of Youtube’s Viewers Watch Video Game Content


Youtube‘s head of gaming, Rodrigo Velloso took part in a monetization of video and game-related content during this week’s New York Games Conference. One of the big facts to come out of the 45 minute session was the amount of traffic video game content receives on the world’s most popular video streaming service.

Machinima EVP of global sales, Jay Sampson and Velloso spoke candidly about the video game viewership on Machinima’s channel as well as Youtube in general. It was mentioned that about 10% of the overall audience. It’s estimated that Youtube sees about 1 billion unique users per month. Putting the tally of  gaming content viewed monthly at about 100 million. It was during this panel that MLG EVP of sales Don Reilley mentioned the company’s lofty goal of becoming the ESPN of the eSport.
