Overkill Software and 505 Games‘ Payday 2 has lifted the UK all formats chart top spot, dethroning Minecraft after three consecutive weeks on top. It’s said that Payday 2 was deemed profitable even prior to it’s release. The sales figures reported on the UK charts don’t take into consideration digital sales, so it’s safe to say the game has a considerable amount of business that’s yet to be reported. This is a fantastic feat considering the small amount of traditional marketing that was done to promote the title. As they say, great games sell.

Payday 2’s MSRP came in at $39.99 making it a rather attractive cooperative budget title for gamers on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. With sales figures in mind, it’s no wonder Overkill has plans for five pieces of DLC for Payday 2 over the next year. Have yet to pull the trigger on Payday 2? Check out our review!
