No PlayStation Plus Membership Required To Use PlayStation 4 Streaming


After Microsoft recently confirmed that an Xbox Live Gold subscription would be necessary to utilize their Xbox One Game DVR feature, it was only a matter of time before gamers hit up Sony for a counterpoint. The person that ended up addressing the question was none other than president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida.


So it’s confirmed we’ll be able to use our handy dandy share buttons without paying for it. Is this another Microsoft flip-flop in the making? It seems like the Xbox One is quickly morphing into a PlayStation 4 doppleganger before our very eyes, save for the decidedly different technical specs. Sony was able to capitalize on Microsoft’s misfortune early on, but the horses may be close to neck and neck heading into Fall.

One thing that’s still absent from both parties is a solid release date for their respective console. Is the game of cat and mouse the PS4 and Xbox One have been engaged in making both parties gun shy about releasing that information? Only time will tell, but it’s nice to know that the PlayStation 4 will still offer the lions share of it’s premium features outside the dreaded paywall.
