Batman: Arkham Origins Has An Online Multiplayer
It was inevitable, nowadays long running franchises almost always get the online multiplayer treatment, even if they were primarily single player games. Batman: Arkham Origins is no exception. Warner Bros. Montreal has revealed their multiplayer suite, developed by Splash Damage. If you’re unfamiliar with Splash Damage, their best known for a game with an awesome concept and a stunningly failed delivery – Brink.
Batman: Arkham Origins’ multiplayer will pit two teams, lead by major antagonists in Arkham Origins, of three villains against each other, while Batman and Robin remain at large. The approach to the conflict sounds quite a bit like the Batman: No Man’s Land comic book arch written by Bob Gale. Each villain creates their own faction and engages in a bloody turf war over Gotham City.
The multiplayer reveal shows Bane and Joker, along with their henchmen, squaring off in a close quarters conflict. Everything from fists, lead pipes, firearms, to high tech gadgets are used to conquer the opposing team. As I said before, Batman and Robin will have a handicap of one person in the multiplayer mode, but it’s likely they’ll be dressed to the nine’s with the standard fare Batman weaponry, making the 3 v 3 v 2 situation quite balanced.
There’s no telling whether Splash Damage can deliver on another innovative multiplayer idea, until we try it. The multiplayer for Batman: Arkham Origins will be available on all platforms….besides Wii U. Sorry again, Wii U. Batman: Arkham Origins will grapnel into action October 25th on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC.
