Time Warner And Microsoft Strike A Deal For An Xbox 360 App

Microsoft is continually working on the entertainment aspect of the Xbox 360. A deal has finally been finalized between Time Warner Cable and Microsoft to bring provide a live TV app on the Xbox 360 marketplace. This is no doubt in preparation for Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One console launch this November. The deal ushers 300 of Time Warner’s live TV channels onto the 360, provided you have an active Xbox Live Gold membership (mine just expired…won’t be renewing) as well as Time Warner cable service. Oh, and don’t forget, you can control your TV experience with Kinect! A fact that has now been ingrained into my memory like the first time I ever saw a naked woman.

I don’t know about you, but I find the fact that I need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to access this and many other apps a heavily devaluing factor. Cable is already behind a pay wall, so why would I want to fork out an extra $60/yr to access the same content on my Xbox 360? I guess some people are just gluttons for punishment..

Look for the TWC app to launch later this Summer, and enjoy the convenience of turning on your Xbox 360, navigating to the TWC app, telling Kinect the show you want to watch, telling it again, and finally viewing the content. Everything’s easier with Kinect and the Xbox 360…right?
