The Oculus Rift VR Peripheral Secures New Capitol For Development

The Oculus Rift secured nearly $2.5 million in funding on Kickstarter, ten times it’s initial funding goal. The company started pushing out dev kits to Kickstarter backers earlier this year. Recently the company secured another $16 million in funding to hire additional staff to work on it’s consumer and HD models.

Spark Capital and Matrix Partners, along with Founders Fund and Formation 8 have invested the large sum into the Oculus Rift’s development. Oculus is targeting a 2014 launch of a 1080p consumer version of their VR HMD ( head mounted display)

Anyone out there have a dev kti? How is it? Is the Rift going to change gaming as we know it? Let us know in the comments below.
