Trailer Tuesday #11 – Supersized 2: Electric Boogaloo

Trailer Tuesday

Trailer Tuesday!

Another week and another supersized edition of iGR‘s Trailer Tuesday, featuring the week’s best movie trailers! Like I mentioned last week, the influx of trailers isn’t really a surprise what with the summer movie season upon us so we’ll just ride this out until nothing’s left. That’s healthy right? Anyways, let’s get to those trailers.

Riddick – It’s the Summer of Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious franchise)! Not only does the next installment of the Fast & Furious franchise open this week but he’s also bringing back the other franchise that people like him in: the Riddick franchise. I’m not really sure how good it’ll be so many years since the last film (2004) but I don’t really care either! It opens in theaters on September 6, 2013.

Pacific Rim – Next to Man of Steel, this is probably my most anticipated film of the summer. I’m a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy franchise) but the premise is just so fun that it’s hard not to look forward to it! I can’t wait for it to hit theaters on July 12, 2013.

About Time – At first glance it may be a bit weird to include a romantic comedy in anything I cover but one, I’m a sucker for Rachel McAdams (Wedding Crashers) and two, I actually have (might be had now) been working on a spec script that covers a lot of the same time travel ground, albeit not in a romantic way. I also want to mention that this looks like a breakout role for Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd). It opens in theaters on November 8, 2013.

Last VegasThe Hangover: AARP Edition! Seriously though, I’m looking forward to it because the cast is pretty stacked: Morgan Freeman (The Dark Knight trilogy), Kevin Kline (Wild, Wild West), Michael Douglas (Wall Street) and Robert De Niro (Goodfellas). It opens in theaters on November 1, 2013.

Blood Ties – The cast for this film is pretty stacked with Clive Owen (Children of Men), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), Mila Kunis (Black Swan), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek franchise), Marion Cotillard (Inception) and James Caan (The Godfather) so it’s a bit surprising there hasn’t been a release date set for it yet. I imagine that will change soon, though as it’s debuting over in Cannes as we speak.

Byzantium – Starring Saorise Ronan (Hanna), Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) and Johnny Lee Miller (Elementary), Byzantium is yet another vampire film. However, it harkens back to the old days when vampires were dark and mysterious and not in the pretty, glittery kind of way so it’s definitely piqued my interest. It opens in theaters on June 28, 2013.

The Wolverine – It’s definitely ambitious to have a superhero film set in Japan but we’ll have to wait and see if the ambition ends up being good for the franchise or if this film will falter like the previous Wolverine standalone film. Still, Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables) is a pretty good Wolverine so I’ll see it regardless. It opens in theaters on July 26, 2013.

That’s all for this week! In case you missed it, check out my weekly FNN article but unfortunately there’s no TVNN this week. That’s okay though because you can always follow me on Twitter @kyle_igr (I swear I’ll start using that account again) and the site itself @igresponsibly!
