Gran Turismo 6 Announced – Coming to PS3 Holiday 2013
Polyphony Digital has lifted the veil on Gran Turismo 6 today, a new installment in its popular and long running Gran Turismo franchise, solidifying earlier rumors that the game would be announced. Speaking at the Gran Turismo 15th Anniversary Event at Silverstone racetrack in England, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi gave several details about the game, with an official announcement trailer you can watch here.
A brand new engine has been developed as well that boasts adaptive tesselation, which Yamauchi emphasized will push the Playstation 3 to its limits in Gran Turismo 6. A new physics engine is also worked into the game which features a new tire, suspension, and aerodynamics model. Customization is also making a return, and over 1200 cars will be in the game, as well as 33 locations, with new tracks to be added in the future.
The game is set to release this holiday season on the Playstation 3, however Yamauchi told IGN that a Playstation 4 version is also being kept “in mind”. For more on the game, be sure to check out the full press release.
