Trailer Tuesday #8
Welcome to another installment of Trailer Tuesday, where I provide you with the week’s best film and TV trailers! This week is highlighted by our first look at Thor: The Dark World so without further ado…
Thor: The Dark World – As a fan of the first Thor, I’ve been incredibly curious to see what would happen in the sequel and with this first trailer, it did not disappoint and really shows why they hired Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) to direct it! The sequel features a lot of the same actors from the first film including Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers), Natalie Portman (Black Swan), Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls), Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), Idris Elba (Prometheus), Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone), Stellan Skarsgard (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers). Not many newcomers were added but they do include the film’s villain Malekith, to be played by Christopher Eccleston (The Others) as well as Zachary Levi (Chuck) taking over the Fandral role that Josh Dallas (Once Upon a Time) played in the first film. It hits theaters on November 8, 2013.
The Lone Ranger – This trailer did a good enough job to pique my interest a bit more for the film, as I had previously been pretty indifferent towards it. It didn’t look bad but not something I would go out of my way to see. I still probably won’t see it in theaters but it does look like it should be pretty fun. Starring Armie Hammer (The Social Network) and Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise), it opens in theaters on July 3, 2013.
The Bling Ring – You may recall I had featured a teaser for this film on a previous edition of Trailer Tuesday but this one is quite a bit longer and actually shows us some of the plot of the film. It looks interesting and is definitely a different role for Emma Watson (Harry Potter franchise). It opens in theaters on June 14, 2013.
The Kings of Summer – I was actually going to use this in last week’s edition of Trailer Tuesday but the Man of Steel trailer hit and I obviously had to go with that one instead. However, I’m incredibly stoked for this film and wanted to make sure I shared the trailer with everybody else since it’s a small little indie and all. You may recognize some of the supporting actors in the film like Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation) and Alison Brie (Community) but the principal cast are all relative unknowns. It opens in theaters on May 31, 2013.
The Internship – This trailer is a lot better than the first one they released but I hope that’s not because they included all of the funny parts of the film in order to make up for how disappointing the first one was. Still, it appears that the chemistry between Owen Wilson (Cars) and Vince Vaughn (Dodgeball) is still there, years after Wedding Crashers, and that’s would should make or break this film. The supporting cast also features an eclectic group of actors including Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski), Josh Gad (1600 Penn), Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show), Max Minghella (The Social Network) and Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf). It opens in theaters on June 7, 2013.
