EA Games Adopts Micro Transaction System For the Future
Gamer’s were surprised to hear that EA Games placed micro transactions in Dead Space 3. It seems as if the gamer’s that complained were the minority.
EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen was quoted as saying “We are building into all of our games the ability to pay for things along the way; to get to a higher level, to buy a new characters; to buy a truck or gun or whatever it might be. And consumers are enjoying and embracing that way of business.” at the recent Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference.
This means all EA titles published in the future will include microtransactions to unlock on disc content. Rumors that EA Games and Microsoft were possibly entering a partnership are also swirling.
Is Microsoft also contemplating microtransactions on the next Xbox? We know they’ve adopted a form of microtransaction with the “Avatar Marketplace” already, but what could the future hold for Xbox owners if EA’s marketing strategy were to be emulated with Microsoft’s Next Xbox?
