Valve’s Home Console may be Linux based
News broke yesterday that Valve’s attempt at a home console would more than likely support a Linux OS rather than a Windows OS. This would be an important feature for any far reaching home console moving forward. It would also set it apart from the competition.
If Ouya’s popularity is any indication, then people want an open source homeconsole to play on. Linux opens up more possibilities for developers and consumers alike. Mod’s will be rampant on an open source console and that will help to extend the play time of the game’s but also the console itself.
This news was dug up by a Neogaf user who found a speech from Valve employee Ben Krasnow made last December.
